“Born and raised till the age of fifteen in Northern Calcutta and thereafter having shifted to the Southern part of the city, it has been quite a journey of its own kind. I have seen the traditional, orthodox, conventional and wrinkled face of North Calcutta and have compared it with the young, vibrant, sophisticated face of the southern part of the city. Both, I find, are fascinating. Though the City has been explored and scrutinized thoroughly it still remains a source of untapped inspiration and its charm and enigma which seem to be never ending.
The most favourite subject of mine is my city, my city of joy, the city of Calcutta.
I am a 25 year old Calcuttan, amateur part-time photographer, gradually transcending towards serious photography. I started exploring my love for the art with a Kodak CX7330 a little less than a decade ago; thereafter the Sony DSC-H50 was my prized possession until I bought the Nikon D3300 in 2014. I try to capture the many moods of nature, city life and sometimes the two intertwined, I do have a story to tell behind my each photograph.
Went to South Point High School and thereafter graduated with a degree in law from the Department of Law, Calcutta University. Currently I am a practicing lawyer at the BAR.
Time to devote to photography is very scarce owing to my professional commitments, yet I try to dedicate as much free time, as I can conjure up, in learning the art of photography. I have never had time to join or take part in any photography class, which I do intend upon doing at some point, and hence am all self taught and self learnt so I do appreciate a few critiques on my work so that I can improve upon my own skills. I know my photographs may not be “perfect” in the technical sense of the term, but I do think they should interest and appeal to most viewers who do not posses an overly-critical mind of a nitpicker.
However, in the recent past, with the ardent support from some of my friends, enthusiasts and patrons, I have started a photography E-Magazine named IMAGE Photography Magazine and its sole objective is to provide a dynamic platform for aspiring, professional photographers or enthusiasts to present their work, showcase their images, and present their perspective to a wider audience; so that one can learn and develop as a photographer, all the while strictly adhering to our primary goal – to keep it free, and to keep it simple – like it should be.
